Smarter Timesheets, Better Payroll Accuracy & GoCardless [Product Updates]

At RemoFirst, we're always working to make global employment smoother, faster, and more reliable. This November, we rolled out important updates that improve timesheet accuracy and ensure payroll runs on time, particularly for US teams using auto-generated timesheets.

Here’s a quick look at what’s new.

Auto-Generated Timesheets Now Have Locked Pay Periods

To protect payroll accuracy and prevent accidental changes, auto-generated timesheets will now come with locked pay period start and end dates. These system-set dates can no longer be edited by the employee.

This only applies to auto-generated timesheets; if a team member creates a timesheet manually, they can still adjust the dates as needed.

Head to timesheets, then click the information button in the period section.
Here you will see a locked timesheet period that cannot be altered.

Why this matters

Payroll accuracy relies on consistent data from a specific time period. Locked pay periods ensure timesheets and payroll are fully aligned, reducing the risk of discrepancies, delays, or incorrect payments. For teams processing US payroll, this provides a cleaner, more reliable workflow.

Improved Timesheet Reminder Logic for On-Time Submission

We’ve also enhanced our reminder system to help employees submit their timesheets before the payroll cutoff, so no one misses a paycheck.

A new notification will now be sent one business day before the timesheet period ends, at 09:00 UK time. This ensures that employees and managers are reminded before the deadline, even when weekends are involved.

How the new reminder works

  • 1 business day before end date: NEW reminder (e.g., end date May 15 → reminder May 14 at 09:00 UK time).
  • On the end date: Existing reminder retained.
  • 1 business day after end date: Existing reminder retained.
  • 2 business days after end date: Existing reminder retained.

This logic ensures no one misses a submission window, keeping payroll approvals smooth and on schedule.

Direct Debit Made Easy with GoCardless

We’re excited to expand our direct debit capabilities, making global payroll funding easier and more accessible. RemoFirst clients can now fund payroll via direct debit powered by GoCardless in GBP, EUR (including SEPA), USD, AUD, NZD, and CAD.
