What is an Employer of Record?

An Employer of Record (EOR) is an organization that helps companies expand internationally by hiring and paying employees on behalf of another company. EORs assume the responsibility for all formal employment tasks, including payroll processes and compliance documentation.

Simply put, using an Employer of Record (EOR) allows companies to legally and efficiently employ workers in other countries without having to set up a local entity or risk violating local employment laws.

How does it work?

An Employer of Record (EOR) officially hires employees in other countries on behalf of their client. For example, if your company is legally registered in the United States and you want to hire an employee in Portugal, you can do so through an Employer of Record (EOR).

In this partnership, the employer (client) is still in charge of the employee's day-to-day operations -- such as tasks, meetings, performance reviews, and termination decisions -- while the EOR handles the administrative burden of managing a foreign workforce.

How does Remofirst pay employees as an EOR?

Global employees' hours, time off, holidays, bonuses, and commissions are automatically calculated into the payroll via our platform. Remofirst invoices our clients (the employers) in either US Dollars (USD), Euros (EUR), British Pounds (GBP), Canadian Dollars (CAD), or Singapore Dollars (SGD) each month and pays your global employees on time in their local currencies.

You can summarize your entire global team's payroll to aggregate them into one payment (instead of many individual payments).
